Well, I just got off the phone with Tommy Rosamond and he's going to send me another beautiful, lightweight single-piece swamp ash Tele body, and a quarter-sawn maple neck. I was planning on doing a 50's butterscotch blonde blackguard. But I've also entertained the possibility of using ReRanch Orange and a white pearloid pickguard.

I think orange could look pretty cool with a black guard too

Well, I already have this thing going:

I kind of thought it would be nice to complement it with a maple board and white pearl guard sibling. Cool

Just an afterthought (sry bout the double post)... if you do it orange/peraloid I think some white binding would look killer.

I am in the process of building a '54 P-bass that I am going to put a Dark Star pup in. I couldn't decide which oringal color to go with, the blonde or the two-color burst. I have also been toying with purchasing a Gretsch broadkaster bass in trans orange. Haven't found one for a reasonable price. And then it hit me! Do the P-bass in ReRanch orange. I am also going to use a white pearl guard although I might try a black pearl as well.

My vote: ReRanch Orange / white pearl

Rick

I am torn. That orange is so hot. I was going to use that on a Coronado, but of the guitars I am going to keep, I don't have enough Fiesta! Is it better to have a matching fleet, or a range of colors?

I like the darker headstock on that Tele. I would have to fake that part on the Coro head since it's not an exotic wood.

Well, here's the current T-posse:

Normally I'd say a range of colors is better, and as you see, I already have two transparent butterscotch beauties, one swamp ash and one alder. But I've always wanted to do a blonde to really nail the 50's Blackguard vibe, and this body will probably have really nice grain, so I'll be obliged to go with blonde or transparent. Of the transparent colors, I like orange the best, and I love the orange - pearl combo. The other orange tele needed a tortoise guard to balance the dark neck.

And that would be just a touch lighter than the Butterscotch Blonde, right? I was definitely considering that as well.

Maybe the twins will get picked on for being fat twins.
