I'm begging you, put me out of this misery! Help me decide what color scheme. The body is a Swamp Ash (the grain's not that fabulous, hence the opaque colors) 3.5lbs, 1pc, from Guitar Mill and I'm having Mario do the finish.

Michael DeTemple said Zsa-Zsa Black is named after his old Burmese cat named Zsa-Zsa. The cat looks black in most light then turns a reddish-black in certain areas. He said it's a black mixed with a few different colors. I like this scheme the most but after all, it is only black.

SRV Strat scheme, looks great, will have to pay extra for the burst though, can't go wrong with a sunburst you know?

Candy Green, like the Clapton Strat but with gold hardware. Lookin' tasty?

Sweet mother of Mary Kaye. This was my second favorite next to the black but I'm afraid that the MK thing is just a phase. I never liked it at first thinking it was too pale but now I really dig it.

Finally, what I'm leaning most to right now after talking it over with the gf (you know how hard it is to speak guitar with someone who doesn't care right?) she likes the green or the dark blue, so the violet Robert Cray strat was the closest I could get a picture for. This thing does look extremely sweet.

So what will it be, any help? Suggestions are welcome. The strat will have gold hardware that is for sure.

One thing you may wanna keep in mind, is if the grain isnt that great, it may not turn out good under the Mary Kaye. I dont know whats wrong with it but the color is semi translucent.

If the green were more green apple color, I'd go for that.

Well, there's nothing wrong with the grain, it's just not spectacular that's all. A translucent finish will still be okay.

You're getting a DeTemple guitar? Now I'm green. Wink

I say go for the blue. It looks very sexy with the gold hardware.

I'd go for the mary Kaye, and save the solid colors for an alder body.

Yeah, that's really too nice of a body to cover up. Go with the Mary Kaye.

The MK is nice, but I'm a burst fan. Thinks its a tie so far.

If you can get it to look like either the M.K. or the burst, you won't go wrong! Cool

I heard reranch can "thin out" all of the colors for a mary kaye effect.

How about translucent Sonic Blue or Surf Green??

I'm not a huge fan of gold hardware, but I like the white or the black solids the best. I think the body looks pretty good so I would try to let some grain show through no matter what you do.
