I was commissioned to build a replica of Tony’s 61-63 Les Paul Custom that he used in the early days.

This LPC was featured in the Paranoid Video

Lets Go !

I didn’t bother making a body as I already had one from Gibson. I just “slightly” modified it to accept the older “Box style” neck joint and this body started out as a Jr so only 3 holes were drilled into the cavity. I added the other 3 .

3 degree angle cut into the tenon.

Glued up and clamped using Hide Glue

Let the finish work begin !

Cut down and shortened a stock P-90 cover to fit a Semour Duncan Custom Shop “Side Winder” P-90 shaped Humbucker. Once I verified the cover fits the pickup I sent it out to be chromed.
Tony’s Custom had a John Birch pickup in the Bridge position so we, The owner and I tried to replicate it as close as possible being John Birch pickups are hard to come by.

Comparison between the Side Winder HB and an original John Birch HB.

Reissue LP/SG Vibrola

Hmmmm, It's Mohawk White Lacquer with a slightly tinted Amber Clear over it.
