Hey all,
I'm refinishing an '81 Standard that has a 1 piece mahogany body, and a 3 pc laminated maple neck. It was originally Wine Red, and the Wine Red was dark enough to blend the differences between the wood species.

Now, I'm refinishing it to a light, faded burst, and want to use either a Gibson cherry red, or light mahogany finish on the entire back.

If I use the red, whats the best method to get the maple and mahogany to look as close to each other as possible?

Thanks!!
