Dang I apologize gor not understanding yet how to download my photobucket pics here, but the '55 Martin thread has the initial pictures...

I was able to clean paint in seams with Naptha on a rag and my guitarist fingernails (who puts turquoise blue on a Martin?). But the Acetone worked better for cleaning up the soundboard. There's more to do to even out the surface of the top, but today made me hopeful that maybe any sanding will be pretty minimal.

However, I'm nervous about cleaning off the fiinish remnants on the back and sides with acetone. Those Back and sides still have the original stain, even though most of the finish is gone AND I DON't want to mess up that Mahogany stain! Can I do it with Acetone (Naptha didn't phase the finish remnants), so it's either adept acetone usage or very patient sanding work. Has anyone done this on a Martin while leaving the original stain unaffected?
Any personal experience tremendously appreciated! PS AGAIN: original pics of project on '55 Martin 0-18t thread. Thank you, thank you.

PPS: how would you clean out the black paint from inside the soundhole?
