So for reasons which will become clear if you read below, I get to work in Doug Kauer's shop and build myself an Arcturus, which is named Operation Plaid Hammer for reasons which will be disappointing to anyone looking for an Arcturus that'll match a Utili-kilt. I'm blogging about it on the Kauer website, with a bunch of pictures and inappropriate jokes. I thought you guys might enjoy it. I'll update the top post as new posts are added.

I was originally going to do a build thread here, but because of how the Kauer site is put together, it would take FOR BLEEDING EVER to post to both. Hope y'all don't mind the link method below.

Operation Plaid Hammer: Origins
Operation Plaid Hammer: Makin' Sawdust
Operation Plaid Hammer: Necking in Public
Operation Plaid Hammer: Neckin' 2 - Laser Boogaloo
Operation Plaid Hammer: Neckin' 3 - the Neckining
Operation Plaid Hammer: Huffing Paint
Operation Plaid Hammer: Neckin' 4 - Ben and Dave's Excellent Adventure
Operation Plaid Hammer: Buffing One Out

Cool, looks like fun!
I was surprised to see that low-tech fretboard radius jig amongst the CNCs and lasers.

I rough radius on the CNC but still have to level out the machine marks the old fashioned way.

In this installment of #projectplaidhammer Dave huffs paint, gets attacked by a spider and does his best Subway impression with a spray gun!

It's a urethane sealer. I'm urethane only at the shop for the last few years.

Dave finally took a day off from corrupting the mind of America's youth (Yes, Freddie King blues riffs some how can be taught in an English class) to update the blog on #projectplaidhammer . In this installment, Dave and Ben attack the fretwork on his neck, level, crown, polish and play with each others nuts. http://www.kauerguitars.com/updates/2015/9/28/neckin-4-ben-and-daves-excellent-adventure
