Broken headstock Epi Firebird Studio from Riceage. Headstock was completely snapped off. All I can say is thank God for KwikWood!

Color coats went on yesterday ('59 Cadillac Inverness Green from PaintScratch.com). Love the way the color turned out. Bill's primer underneath (great stuff!)

Will get upgraded electronics, got the Steinberger tuners on Saturday, and of course a Firebird should have Firebird pickups Laughing

Sorry about the flash, it was getting dark. Will try to get some daylight pics next time it's sunny. Starting clear coats today or tomorrow.

Inverness is my favorite gibson color. Looking forward to seeing it completed.

Man I love this color. Been contemplating an Inverness guitar for quite some time. Got a can of Gracey's sitting on the shelf. You may have just lit the fire. I have a telemaster that might be a good candidate. Lookin good!

I have to check my camera. I know I took some but I can't remember at what point the repair was when I took them. Either way I'll post what I have when I get home today.

Also, looking for opinions about the pickguard. I have the stock Epi pickguard which comes up higher on the body and has the cutouts around the humbucker rings like this:

I'm thinking of cutting it off in a straight line to resemble the Gibson version like this (Note: the screw holes on mine are in a straight line across the top and would be unaffected):

I am going to make mounting rings from brass plate that are humbucker size on the outside to cover the pickup route, with Firebird cutouts for the pickups. These will be chrome plated.

My favorite Gibson color!
I prefer the straight top pickguard.

I like the updates you are going to make. Smart ideas. It is gonna be cool. You are going to get a black guard right?

I have the stock white pickguard that came with it. The consensus seems to be to cut the top like the Gibson guard so I'll do that. Maybe I'll make a template from it and make a black guard to see how it looks. I do have some black blank material. I usually prefer white pickguards though.

This sold me on the black guard thing for Inverness.

Sorry for the big picture but honestly it needs to be seen in all its glory.

Clear coats are on and the wait begins. In the meantime, got the pickguard cut. The screw holes are not straight across, but I can live with it. Will try to remember to get the pics of the repair up too.

Also, MikeP, if you see this I sent you a PM about a template I need.

Finally got the pics of the repair off the camera. Unfortunately, they are kind of anti-climactic. Just the headstock clamped back on.

Good news is I got it wet sanded, polished and have started assembling. Waiting on an Allparts order to finish up. I made some pickup rings out of black pickguard material until I get around to fabricating the brass rings and getting them plated. So, should have finished pics up soon!

Got this finished up a few weeks back. Finally got around to taking some crappy phone pics. Very happy with the results. Still working on the brass pickup rings, but I like the black plastic ones for now. Will try to get some better pics soon.

And a little something extra! A sneak peek at the next project in the queue:
