"nothing says "I'm gonna let the music do my talking" like a straight forward black and white tele. "

Exactly. I've been haggling over my next project, a Mahogany Thinline Strat w/ maple neck and Filter/Tv Trons for some time. When I finally get it off the ground, it's gonna be Black with a plain ol' white 69 T-line pickguard.

I like a fairly dark (clear) butterscotch with tortoise guard, as long as the wood has decent grain.

Hey Grink. What did you use for your silver base? I see a lot of flake. It looks real kool, but candy apple (like the real edible thing) has no flakes in the base. It's usually smooth aluminum silver. I love the flakes (I use big ones under kandy) but is that a 'correct' CAR Fender finish or did you kustomize it? Killer bass.
My vote for Surf Green. Smile

I can't keep thinking of the Candy Emerald Green with Gold hardware idea. I'm really considering it but I gotta give myself a break after this CAR before trying another home brew metallic finish. I would doubt that its avaialble in aerosol cans as a metallic so its back to Rustoleum Primer as the base. Do you think there is a translucent green in aerosol or should I consider auto paint?
Of course, this is the homework to see if this is something I would do. Its not necessarily the finish I'm going to select but I'd like to consider it some more. Cool
