Do they really live up to the hype? At $150 a piece loading 4 in a cab can get pricey. _________________ The weight of failure is greater than any burden you now carry. |

I've had good luck finding them for ~$75ea on CL.
They sound good to me with a lot of low-mids.
Maybe grab one and play it. I've never had a 4x12 setup but the sound of a 1x12 and 2x12 with V30's was basically the same. Sold off the 2x12 for that reason, but still enjoy the 1x12 that has it installed. |

I love them. highly recommend buying the Hellatone from Avatar...just a v30 that's been broken in...and way cheaper. also Better than dragging CL for months trying to find something and dealing w/ flakes.

I like 'em for hi- or moderate gain amps.
I just looked at chris's Avatar link. WOw Great prices! Hellatone for $99! There's one thing I highly recommend, broken in Vintage 30s.
I had a 4x12" with Vintage 30s. It kind of sound a bit harsh at first. But down the road, they sound great. I assumed my ears got used to it.
Then my buddy wanted my 4x12". I said "I'll give it to you, but I get to keep the Vintage 30s, you have to purchase four of your own".
So he bought 4, I installed them, then again, I heard that bit of harshness of new Vintage 30s. A few years later, I played his Zinky amp through the 4x12", sounded great! _________________ George Lopez: "This is a vintage Les Paul!"

| I run a Vintage 30 in my Soldano Atomic 16 and a Greenback in a single 12 extension cab. Love 'em. |

| I have completely eliminated all jensen type speakers from my life. My deluxe has a greenback, which is just a great combination. My Fender 75 has a celestion Sidewinder, and my 2x12 has v30s. no interest in anything else. |

| Okay..."twangster" and "guitartifacts" can never make back-to-back posts again. That is way too much Japanese kookiness for the human brain to handle in one sitting. |

I like them, and have picked them up for $65 and up. I used one with my Supro clone and have one in my Ampeg Reverberocket. They sound great when paired with the right amp. I was surprised at how good the V30 sounded in the Ampeg, and I tried quite a few in there before I was happy. _________________ John

| I had the WGS's in a 2X12 and while I did like them a lot, they were still a bit different from V30's. The WGS fans say they don't have the "annoying" mid spike that V30's have, but IMO that is what is good about V30's. |

Dave has REALLY good prices, and the hellatones are nice.. I prefer the hellatone 30 (g12h30) but that is just me. I had 2 30s and 2 alnico blues in a 4x12 and it was smooooth 50W amp into 60W cab.. (until I got the hiwatt and had to pull the blues) |

I had a closed back V30 2x12, bluesbreaker style cab I think. It was great.
Now I run WGS Green Berets, which I think are more like the Greenback. I like my tone even more now. _________________ Making my world a better place, one Coors Light at a time.
