killing time at work
this is for my oldest nephew, it is Testor's Root Beer Metallic. Pretty cool looking with some purple hues in certain light. This is getting an allparts LRO with the bullet truss and big headstock. HSS setup with white PG and black plastics. He's pretty excited about it, I'm not too excited to let it go once it is done
has about a can and a half of watco when pics where taken

I'm feeling it.
Is the color enamel or acrylic lacquer?
I find it a shame those necks don't come drilled for F tuners. That's just part of the CBS headstock/bullet truss rod mojo. |

its the acrylic lacquer one coat cans.
This neck came with F tuners attached. I have yet to string it up but they looked just fine and lined up normally. _________________ ........i'll remain unperturbed by the joy and the madness that i encounter everywhere i turn.

I'm not seeing the root beer, looks more purple. But that is a fantastic looking finish nonetheless. Are the Testor's cans the hobby store variety for... like model cars?

the cans are in the model car isle. They are very small maybe 3oz. I think I used 2 1/2 cans only because I tried a RR nozzle and blew out almost a whole can in 3 seconds ( the two are not compatible )
2 cans over white primer was plenty for good coverage. _________________ ........i'll remain unperturbed by the joy and the madness that i encounter everywhere i turn.

I dig it. There was a thread awhile back someone using Testors on a Tele, lime green metallic. Real cool. I bought some of it in plum crazy but haven't done anything with it, yet. _________________ I can't remember what I forgot........ |

I don't see any root beer on my monitor, it's mostly purple. But looks great!
I've used Testors before on ukuleles, and used their one-coat gold on an acoustic guitar. It always comes out looking like a million bucks.
ajeffcote- you got any pictures of the lime gold Tele? I had some that I was going to use on an acoustic with some hotrod decals and never got around to it before my sister snatched/used the paint on some candle holders. But I'm still going to do one someday, it just seemed like a great hotrod finish. I'd love to see yours. _________________ Don't blame me, I voted for Willie Nelson. |

Love Root Beer.
An all time fave,
Saw a 30's Chevy Coupe in Root Beer once and about died.
That is going to look nice as heck. |
