Next project, customer job:

I started airbrushing tint and Tru-Oil a while back. It makes the job go much quicker.

Can you give some more detail on airbrushing the Tru Oil? Do you thin it? How much? How many coats do you spray? How long between coats? How do you clean the airbrush? Etc. Also curious do you spray the tint mixed with the Tru Oil or tint first and then Tru Oil after?

I always use Tru Oil on my necks but have given up making maple fretboard neck because I don't like the way fretboard comes out wiping it on, particularly around the frets. Sorry for all the questions but this seems like a great solution.

Last all maple neck I bought was baked maple for this very reason. No finish needed. I have to say, the baked maple is REALLY nice.

This is what a nice hunk of alder looks like with a couple of coats of Tru-Oil.

It's going to be just clear on the back and sides. Haven't decided yet what to do on the bound top.
