Pre-cat vs. traditional nitro for color coats?

I'm wondering if there's a meaningful difference in how the color coat performs...specifically, replacing this:

...with this:

http://www.insl-x.com/viewProd.asp?prodID=426

The LC382 is what Curtis Novak suggested as an "off the shelf" clear that was similar to the types used in the 50s.

I wonder if using a pre-cat color coat changes much?
