Just picked one of these up.Has anyone done the mod where you swap the R4 and R10 resistor?This thing is muddy as is and I am gonna have to do something to it. Just wondering if caps have to be drained before doing this.

I did the mod on a V50. I always drain the caps and double-check them with a multimeter. The mod is no biggie, just don't overheat the solder pads on the board. It will make a difference in tone. Take a look at this thread, SteveA and others have documented many V18 mods.
