I picked up a great deal off Ebay, believe it or not, on an unfinished Allparts swamp ash jazz bass body that I'm about to start to grainfill. I am appealing to you guys for some finish options. I also have an Allparts maple neck with black binding and black - block inlays I am going to use. My first thought was to do another 3 color burst with a tort guard. All of the colors listed are dyes I have in my shop now, so w/o buying anymore colors these are the choices.

I'll go with tobacco brown with a twist.
Do some sort of burst with it, from light to dark on the edges. Wink

How 'bout a blue/green burst? I saw one on a quilt top that was mindboggling a couple months ago... Cool

I agree. Most of the colors you listed, IMHO, would not set well with the neck binding and blocks.

Be different, do it in Mary Kaye white with black hardware. Wink

Vegas, all of the colors I listed are transparents, (dyes). Even if you are suggesting black trans I was thinking that would look cool too.

Ralph, a MK would look pretty sick with all black hardware but I don't have any and I want to use up some of the colors I have. Great suggestion though.

Are you guys that are suggesting tobacco brown saying to do it in entirely just the brown? Not a tobacco burst?? I just want to be sure and I'm having a hard time visualizing it in just the T.B.

BTW, I am also scratch building a j bass too that I glued up some 5A quilt to alder. I already have the body cut out and just have to start the contours. Maybe that one will get a tobacco burst. Hmmm.......

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I am really liking the feedback, keep them coming.

Yeah, I was thinking T.B. - no burst. Just a totally kind of dark and rich looking guit...
