Aloha All;

Been years since I last posted anything, living in Hawaii now, semi retired, getting ready to start a new project.

I ordered a Lake Placid Blue MIM Strat with a Maple fret board from a local guitar shop here in Honolulu. Will be installing the following upgrades.

Fender Hot Noiseless Pickups (previously purchased for another guitar).

Stew Mac premium electronics upgrade kit.

Callaham MIM Strat Bridge Assembly

Fender Locking Tuners and white TUSQ nut.

Any suggestions on other upgrades appreciated.

I'll be posting audio of both the stock guitar and after the upgrades.

How about strap locks?

And what color is the PG? LPB looks pretty good with parchment or a nice red tortoise.

Thanks for the suggestions. Stock white PG, strap locks maybe down the road.

This project is more about tone and playability. Been wanting a new strat for some time, thought it would be interesting to see how much of an improvement I can get with the mods. I'm by no means a pro, just a tinkerer.

Also thought by sharing on the forum it might help others who are considering the same thing.

UPDATE:

Took a little longer than expected, but anyway, I've uploaded 3 .wav files to my Google Drive.

I created the files with the strat plugged straight into my PreSonus, no effects, just clean. I used D'Addario Nickle Wound 10 gauge strings. Started at the bridge pickup and then rolled through the tone controls on each switch position.

The three files are:

1) Out of the box. Just tuned it up and played.
2) New Strings. Put on a new set of D'Addario strings.
3) Moded. Installed all the upgrades, put on another set of new strings.

Here's the link:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0Bwr3plKn6r7WekdxNW4yVXdnZFE?usp=sharing

You will get a prompt from Google saying the file is too large to scan, trust me, the files are clean. If you're not sure, just download them and scan them with your AV software. It's best to download them and listen through headphones anyway.

Let me know if you have any trouble getting to the files.
