I am re-wiring an old Starfire bass and the owner hasn't been using a switch. This is the circ uit that I want to use, but without the switch. Would like the pickups' vol and tone controls to work independently. If I run hot lines from both volume pots straight to the tip lug on the output jack, will they function independently?

You can do it like this. Shouldn't be a problem. H/T TalkBass.com for the diagram.

I have that diagram as well. Will try it. Thanks, Mark.

Well, I wired it that way, and both volume pots work perfectly but the tone pots have no effect at all. Any idea why??

Are the tone caps still wired middle lug to middle lug?
