I was doing a cheapo build and didn't want to spend over $100 for a Gibson or Duncan mini, so I got one of these.

LINK

It's a 4 wire pickup unlike the vintage style, but it works well and sounds pretty decent, comparable to my Gibson mini in the same configuration.

Plus for the GFS, you don't need a mounting plate that a P90 or a Gibson mini would require.

I'd rate it a good buy. :thumbs up:

Thanks Mark! I just bought a pair for my Epiphone 56 goldtop. I've wanted to put mini humbuckers in for years but couldn't justify the expense. I haven't bought any guitar stuff in a long time so this is a much deserved treat. Thanks for the heads up.

Talking about affordable mins, I bought these off E-Bay: [click on image]

Actually not bad. I played them clean and distorted, sounds fine either way. But what was peculiar, when I roll-off the volume (CTS audio taper) it cleans up very quickly, too qickly. Full and "7" are completely different. "7" is "3" on clean scale.
