Which brand is the best? I know there are some types that will melt plastic, eff up finishes and cause general nastiness..Or do they all do that?

Contact cleaner ...

I prefer Baush & Lomb products. Plenty of eye care products.

The brand is Caig, DeOxit is the type of cleaner it is.

They make a bunch of products.

Miller Stephenson Contact Re-Nu & Lube (or is that Miller $tephenson?)
is really good, but the cans of their products are kinda BIG.
Caig stuff is good too.
