Well, I’ve finally got it together. Here’s my mandocaster build. I still have a few things to do before I break it all down and throw some paint at it. I need to make a proper bone nut (this is a plastic guitar nut I just cut down on each side). I need to figure out a neck plate (I’ve got a set of grommets on it for now). And I need to buy a set of telecaster knobs. The chickenheads were just handy.

I have to blame and thank Helloid for this one. I made him a mandocaster body about a year ago and he kind of got me hung up on these things. Then a few months back Joe posted some pics of a mandocaster neck he was making for Reranch member Setzer. Next thing you know I was hitting Joe up for a mandocaster neck and the rest is history as they say. I ran into a lot of little snags on the body, I think I wound up making three body templates and two pickguard templates before I got everything sorted. I guess Helloid was really cussing me over the body I made for him last year. Sorry about that. Embarassed

I’m going to try my hand at a light relic job on this one. Daphne Blue on the body, tru-oil the neck.

Friggin' Awesome!

Man I got to get started on mine. I have the matching neck to yours sitting on my bench right now. I just have to get off my A$$ and make the body. I also made an extra T-mandocaster neck for myself too. Speaking of T necks: Did you see Bennett's Tele Uke? Its all together (mock up) and strung up too. It's lookin good also.

If it means anything to you, I like the chickenhead knobs.

You could leave the grommets on the back for a little Silvertone vibe! Wink

Yeah, Joe did an excellent job. I would highly recomend one of his necks. It feels very comfortable. It has a fatter U shape than most mando necks. I guess that's why it doesn't feel odd for me switching back and forth from guitar to mando.

Wow, that looks great! Can't wait to see it with paint!! Great job Coot!!

I'd be interested in one of those bodies if you're still in the market to make them. Drop me a PM when you get a chance.
