I got it for $30 so that alone got me pretty excited. Cool

It's a YAMAHA SE 300, whatever that is. I'm really having trouble finding anything about it online. Possibly from late 80's or early 90's is all I have so far, if anyone has seen one before let me know.

I'm assuming the body is basswood with poly finish. I'll know for sure soon enough. Anyway, the point of posting is I think the body is really kind of ugly and I'm looking at my options as far as changing it, though I might just leave it as is because for some reason it looks small to me already, not sure I wanna hack it down even more.

So here are some pics; lemme know what you think Very Happy

I remember them pretty well. I think that was from the early 80s more than later, about the time of Fender Japan's contemporary series. It is a nice Strat knock-off, and they set up and play nice. It is all there and not molested, so I would save the refin/modding urge for something that needs it. For $30 you got the deal of the year! Shine it up, play it, and have fun. Or sell it/trade it to get a real project. Someone would love that as it is. Nice deal!

eb,

I'll definitely take that into consideration, cause you're right, there's nothing terribly wrong with it as is. I've had it for about 3 hours now, already dead against changing the shape of the body. I did find out that the bridge pickup doesn't work so I'll at least look into that but for now it's going to hang on the wall for a few weeks 'til I decide what to do with it.

Oh, I probably should have mentioned that I'm a left-handed player so this one isn't going to do me a lot of good but I have always wanted a righty on hand for when other people are over to jam.

I'm about done with #1 though so I'll need another project soon, hah, was planning on messing around with my MIM strat. Like you said it might not be necessary, but I think I might be missing out on too much fun if I just leave it Laughing
