A Nelson Palen Original in Cherry Sunburst

Materials:

This work of art is a first for Nelson in two ways. It is his try at building an archtop and his first attempt at spraying a sunburst. The dyes used were GRAMBL (amber) for the burst, GRMBRL (medium brown) for the dark edges and GRREDL (red) for the transition area. The dyes were then clear coated with nitrocellulose lacquer and polished to the finish you see here. Nelson says the dark area looks black indoors but dark cherry in the sunlight. If this is the first, I can't wait to see the next one! A great job!
